Uzbekistan plans to build photovoltaic power plants within ten years
The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan recently stated that Uzbekistan will build a photovoltaic power station with a total installed capacity of 5,000 megawatts Solar Panel Generator within ten years. Currently, Uzbekistan is taking a series of measures with the support of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to select investors and implement related projects through foreign direct investment.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy plans to put into use two photovoltaic power plants by the end of 2021, each with an installed capacity of 100 MW. To this end, with the participation of the International Finance Corporation under the World Bank, Uzbekistan will construct the above-mentioned photovoltaic power plants in a PPP mode. The IFC will provide assistance and assistance in the design and bidding of photovoltaic power plants as the main consultant of Uzbekistan.

In 2019, with the support of the International Finance Corporation, the Uzbek side has launched the first phase of international bidding for a 100 MW photovoltaic power plant in Navoi State, from India, Spain, China, Norway, the UAE, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, South Africa, 23 companies from South Korea and Japan participated in the bidding, 11 of which passed the technical pre-examination; 6 companies from Saudi Arabia, China, the UAE, and France submitted commercial bids. After the competition, Masdar of the United Arab Emirates won the bid. The project was designed and tendered with US$5.1 million assistance provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The subsequent IFC will provide a loan of US$41 million. The project became the World Bank. The first aid project implemented in Uzbekistan. In addition to the photovoltaic power station project, the UAE Masdar Company will also design, finance, construct and operate a 500 MW wind power station in Navoi State. It plans to start construction at the end of 2021 and achieve the first phase of 250 MW in April 2023. The megawatt power station was put into operation and will be fully operational by the end of 2024.
