South African solar industry will improve performance in the future

The WWF report praised South Africa as the first country on the African continent to achieve 1 GW of solar photovoltaic power generation. The South African solar industry is largely driven by the private sector at the household and industrial levels, and is quickly implemented through the Renewable Energy Independent Power Generation Procurement Program (REI4P). The government’s recent legislative amendments lowered the licensing requirements for small power systems and allowed municipalities to obtain power from suppliers other than Eskom, leading to the explosive development of embedded power generation in South Africa.

The future growth potential of the industry lies in the maintenance industry.
