Uganda has abundant energy resources, which are evenly distributed across the country. These include hydropower, biomass, solar energy, geothermal, peat and fossil fuels. Existing solar data clearly shows that due to its proximity to the equator, Uganda’s solar energy resources are high throughout the year, with the maximum and minimum months changing only about 20% (from 4.5 W/m² to 5.5 W/m²). The dry areas in the northeast have the highest sunshine, while the mountainous areas in the east and southwest are low.
