South Korea will build photovoltaic power generation in railway facilities
According to Yonhap News Agency’s report on March 24, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, Seoul City and Korea Railway Corporation signed the "Solar Railroad Green New Deal Cooperation Project" agreement at the Seoul City Hall on the same day, planning to build large-scale photovoltaic Solar Power Off Grid Kit power generation facilities at major railway facilities such as Seoul Station. Use railways to create a "Green New Deal". The second official of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, Sun Myung-soo, the Acting Mayor of Seoul Seo Jung-hyup, and the President of Railway Corporation Sun Bing-suk attended the signing ceremony.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea stated that the project is of special significance as the country's first solar energy "green new deal cooperation" demonstration project jointly promoted by the central government, local government, and public agencies. According to the agreement, the South Korean government will build a total of 25 megawatts of solar power generation facilities at 13 railway vehicle bases, stations, and car and vehicle parking lots before the end of next year. It is expected to generate 32 million kWh per year and supply approximately 10,000 in the future. It can be used by households to obtain the same carbon emission reduction effect as planting 2.2 million pine trees every year. In addition, the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure and the Railway Commune also plan to start with this cooperation and establish a cooperative system with local governments, power generation companies and other related organizations, and expand the scale of solar power generation in the railway sector to 456 megawatts by 2030.
