Uzbekistan plans to start production of 2.9GW photovoltaic installed capacity
Uzbekistan's President Mirziyoyev recently stated at the UN General Assembly that Uzbekistan is studying the transition to green Solar Irrigation System energy. Before 2025, the country plans to put into production a total of 2,900 MW of photovoltaic and wind power installed capacity. By 2030, the share of renewable energy in Uzbekistan's energy will reach 25%, and energy efficiency will also double.

In September, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Sultanov stated in an interview with Russian media that the Ministry of Energy, together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the international consulting firm Mott MacDonald, are formulating a comprehensive strategy to reduce the country’s carbon emissions. Uzbekistan’s current energy production system mainly relies on natural gas, but the gradual development strategy will help meet the rapidly growing energy demand while producing energy in a low-carbon form. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has also formulated a 10-year power supply plan with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. By 2030, additional power supply capacity will be built, including 5 GW of photovoltaic, 1.9 GW of hydropower and 3 GW of installed wind power. capacity. By 2030, the proportion of renewable energy in electricity production will increase from the current 10% to 25%.

At the end of August, the 100 MW photovoltaic power plant invested and constructed by the UAE Masdar company in the Navoi state of Uzbekistan was put into production. Masdar is a subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, one of the world's largest clean energy developers, and has implemented Zelavshan 500 MW power station and Tashkent state 40 kW small photovoltaic power station in Uzbekistan. At the end of this year, another 100-megawatt solar power plant built in cooperation with Total on the basis of the cooperation between the government and social capital will be put into operation in the Samarkand region. In terms of wind power development, in mid-September, the Saudi International Power and Water Corporation (ACWA Power) won the bid for the Karakalpakstan 100 MW wind power plant project. The investment amount is approximately 140 million U.S. dollars. In addition to this project, ACWA Power is also constructing two wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW in Bukhara State, which are expected to be put into operation in December 2023.
