The localized production of polysilicon materials will help Indonesia reduce the price of photovoltaic modules and will accelerate the deployment of green energy.

Indonesia plans to install about 5.3GW of photovoltaic systems by 2030. As a result, the country plans to build several PV module production plants, including a US$800 million PV module production plant in the Batang region of central Java province, which will open in July 2022, while the plant’s polysilicon The production capacity is 40,000 tons.

Indonesia also plans to invest US$3.2 billion to build a second photovoltaic module factory in North Kalimantan with an annual capacity of 160,000 tons. After the operation of these production plants, photovoltaic modules can be fully supplied, thereby promoting the accelerated deployment of photovoltaic systems in Indonesia.
