The largest shareholder of the Portuguese power company Energías de Portugal (EDP) is the state-owned energy company China Three Gorges (China Three Gorges), which announced an investment Home Use Solar Power plan for 2021-2025.

The company will invest 24 billion euros in the program, of which 80% will be invested in renewable energy, 15% will be used to improve the grid, and 5% will be used for customers and energy management solutions.
EDP hopes to double its installed capacity of clean energy in the next five years, from the current 12 GW to 25 GW in 2025, which means an average increase of 4 GW per year.
The utility company also plans to stop producing coal-fired power in 2025, and fully achieve green environmental protection in 2030, and is expected to achieve carbon neutrality goals within 20 years.

EDP will also invest 2 billion euros in digital transformation and new solutions for hydrogen energy, energy storage, smart grid, and energy communities. And electric cars.
The company also recently announced the formation of H2BU, the group's new branch for the development of green hydrogen energy projects, and a storage device EDPR NA, whose goal is to reach a storage capacity of 1 GW within five years.
As of December 2020, the company's renewable energy division EDPR has installed renewable energy capacity of 2.4GW, of which onshore wind power is 1,648MW, and solar power is 404MW. Another 311 MW comes from offshore wind power projects.
