The government of New South Wales, Australia, has launched an open project to assess the interest of solar home solar kit system, wind and energy storage developers working with the 3GW Midwest Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). The government has asked developers to submit a letter of intent for the project by June 5 to negotiate and coordinate new infrastructure investment in the state’s renewable energy pilot area.

The NSW government has developed a long-term plan to build three renewable energy zones in the Midwest, New England and Southwest regions of the state. The first 3GW reserve will be established near Dubbo in the Midwest of the state. In the southwestern REZ (near the town of Hay), an additional 4,950 megawatts of electricity can be generated, and in the vicinity of New Zealand’s REZ town, Armidale, an additional 5,500 megawatts of electricity can be added. Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The Midwest is Australia’s first coordinated renewable energy zone (REZ) planning location, with approximately 4500MW projects either approved or in the planning system. Once fully developed, the pilot project is expected to be worth about 4.4 billion U.S. dollars, enough to power 1.3 million households. Currently, the government is planning to work with system planners to ensure that sufficient supporting infrastructure is built in the state to support the plan for the Midwest.
