Saudi Arabia formulates new regulations for photovoltaic power generation
The regulations will force electricity dealers to provide more help to homeowners and businesses willing to use solar energy solar system price for home electricty. The new framework will apply to photovoltaic systems ranging from 1 kilowatt to 2 megawatts and all energy consumers.

Saudi Arabia’s Electricity & Cogeneration Regulatory Authority has announced new regulations on distributed solar power installations, and it is expected that this will encourage electricity consumers to install photovoltaic systems in accordance with the country’s net metering system.
The new regulations should apply to photovoltaic systems ranging from 1 kilowatt to 2 megawatts, as well as various energy consumers, and will come into effect after the Saudi Electricity Corporation (SEC) issues additional rules regarding the program procedures.

The framework stipulates that Saudi power distributors must provide assistance to consumers who are willing to install solar energy and provide them with the information required for feasibility studies and grid-connected applications. Power companies must also raise awareness of the benefits of rooftop solar and report on progress in this market segment every year.
