East African countries will connect clean energy to national grids and lead the development of clean energy in Africa. The report states that currently 14 countries in Africa have set renewable energy development goals and attracted US $ 5.2 billion in investment in 2015.
Among them, Kenya's geothermal power generation leads the world, with an installed generating capacity of 740 MW in 2015; Kipeto Wind Farm's financing of 316 million US dollars is another historical breakthrough after the Turkana Lake Wind Power Station's investment of 895 million US dollars. Kenya and the World Bank are negotiating a US $ 150 million financing plan for off grid solar power kit solar and wind power projects, which will significantly reduce the price of electricity in Kenya.

Ethiopia built a wind power plant with a installed capacity of 150 MW in 2015, and its wind power generation capacity doubled compared to 2010, just behind South Africa. And its upcoming 5,200 MW solar power station will become Africa's largest solar project.

South Africa is currently the largest clean energy investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa, attracting a total of $ 4.1 billion in investment in 2015. Followed by Kenya and Uganda, due to their advanced policies and healthy investment environment, they also attracted a large amount of investment; Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe attracted a total of 80 million US dollars in investment in this field in 2015. Nigeria has also signed US $ 1.75 billion online contracts with 14 solar companies. In addition, Ghana, Senegal and Uganda have raised a total of US $ 160 million and plan to build 110 MW of solar projects.
