Columbia company announces construction of six solar ecological parks in 2021
Colombian National Petroleum Corporation (Ecopetrol) President Felipe Bayón (Felipe Bayón) said in the city of Catailla La Nueva in the province of Meta that the Castilla III integrated Green Solar Energy project (Castilla III) will improve the ability to handle oil, gas and water and become part of the company's energy transition plan.

Baan explained: "The energy extraction in this area is of great significance to Colombia and the National Petroleum Corporation. Through this project, we will have the opportunity to use solar energy for oil extraction, and to process and develop resources such as oil, natural gas and water." He also added that the project has invested more than US$1.3 billion, signed cooperative service agreements with 35 local companies, and created 1,700 jobs.
Baang also announced that the company will begin construction of the San Fernando Ecological Park Solar Super Park. The park will become the largest self-powered energy center in Colombia. He said that by the end of 2021, the total production capacity of the Solar Super Park and other energy projects of the National Petroleum Corporation could exceed 150 MW. Under the principles of self-sufficiency, energy security and sustainability, the Castile Integrated Project and the Solar Park Project will help the national oil company continue to promote production.

The National Petroleum Corporation of Colombia will continue to build six solar parks with a capacity of 45 megawatts. Together with the current projects under construction, the number of solar parks will increase to eight by the end of 2021, and the total energy production will reach more than 150 megawatts. It is estimated that by 2023, the company will reach 450 megawatts of installed capacity, and promises to continue to work hard to reduce carbon dioxide emissions while reducing environmental pollution caused by operations.
