The 160MW solar project proposed by the Renewable Energy Association Anpier has been approved by the Navarre regional government in Spain. The plan is to build a Solar System solar photovoltaic power plant on the Navarre Canal, one of the largest artificial irrigation canals in Spain.

The Navarre regional government is promoting the photovoltaic project proposed by the Spanish National Association of Photovoltaic Energy Producers (Anpier), which will install solar panels on the Navarre Canal, one of the country’s largest artificial irrigation canals, to produce sustainable electricity .
The regional government stated that the installed capacity of the project can be as high as 160MW, which will double the current photovoltaic installed capacity in the region.
In April last year, Juan Antonio Cabrero, vice president of Anpier and Navarre representative of the association, delivered a speech at the Navarre government, pointing out that the project will create a variety of environmental benefits because photovoltaic power generation can produce clean energy and will not occupy a large area of land. .

Cabrero also emphasized that water is a scarce resource for agricultural development in the region, and the project can reduce water evaporation. He pointed out that the cooling effect of water is also conducive to power generation, which can improve the power generation efficiency of the solar panel itself. The Navarre government stated that the use of the project will reduce water loss caused by evaporation by 30%.
According to the research report submitted by Energi.k and Naga Solar to the Ministry of Rural Development and Environment, the proposed project has high technical and financial feasibility and can significantly avoid shadow effects.
Anpier explained that this program can be promoted in all similar canals in the autonomous communities in Spain. The association stated: "Anpier has always supported the development of small and medium-sized photovoltaic equipment and required that the project be implemented in locations with higher transmission and distribution network efficiency and existing infrastructure, or where there is no natural heritage or specific agricultural use. To ensure that natural habitats and farmland are not damaged."
