Renewable energy production in Belgium increased by 31% and currently accounts for 18.6% of the country's electricity structure. Its cumulative Solar Panels For Houses photovoltaic installed capacity increased from 3,887 MW at the end of 2019 to 4,788 MW at the end of December.

Belgian grid operator Elia reported that in 2020, renewable energy power generation, including solar and wind power, increased by 31% over the previous year, reaching 15.1 TWh, and currently covers approximately 18.6% of the country's electricity demand.

This development should be attributed to many factors such as good weather conditions and increased wind power generation-from 3796 MW at the end of 2019 to 4670 MW at the end of 2020, while solar power generation increased from 3887 MW at the end of 2019 to 12 4788 MW at the end of the month. The grid operator said, "We still see relatively high solar power generation in summer and rely more on wind power in winter."

This year also set many records: at noon on May 11, wind energy (3196 MW) and solar energy (2628 MW) alone contributed 5824 MW of power generation, setting a record for renewable energy power generation; 2020 At around 9 pm on December 26, 2015, the wind power generation alone reached 3.8 GW; the solar power generation in May 2020 reached 683 GWh, setting a new monthly record (breaking the 504 GW in June 2019 The old record at the time), due to the sunny weather in the month and, more importantly, the increase in photovoltaic installed capacity; finally, in a total of 119 hours in 2020, more than 50% of Belgium’s electricity consumption comes from renewable energy. This is an unprecedented situation.
