South Africa: plans to start a 2.6GW wind power and photovoltaic bidding project
According to a report on the South African independent media website on November 1, South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Mantashe stated that the department plans to launch the sixth bid window of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Generation Procurement Program (REIPPPP) before January 2022. Including 1,600 megawatts of onshore wind power and 1,000 megawatts of Solar Power Home solar photovoltaic.

Mantache announced 25 priority bidding projects last week, totaling 2,583 megawatts of wind power and solar power. However, the purchase of renewable energy power cannot immediately solve the problem of load reduction, and it will take more than 24 months to officially go online.

It is expected that the priority bidding project will complete the commercial transaction within about six months and will be officially integrated into the power grid in April 2024.
