German system integrator Badenova has completed the construction of 2.4MW of rooftop Solar Panel Full Kit on the roof of its Europa-Park stadium, the German football club Freiburg has announced. The facility is the second-largest football stadium photovoltaic system in the world, after the 2.5MW rooftop array at the "Mane Garrincha" National Stadium in Brasilia.
It is reported that the Freiburg rooftop photovoltaic system is expected to be connected to the grid in September. About 6,000 heterojunction solar modules from the Swiss company Meyer Burger were installed on the 15,000-square-meter roof. Badenova has invested about 2.3 million euros ($2.3 million) in the system, which will operate for 20 years.
