Uzbekistan will add 5GW of solar capacity by 2030

     The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan recently announced the national power supply plan 2030. According to the plan, Uzbekistan plans to achieve an additional 5GW of off grid solar system kit cost solar installed capacity by 2030.

    At the same time, the Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy will also deploy 300MW or more energy storage facilities to regulate the electrical load.

    The plan pointed out that from 2020 to 2022, the Ministry of Energy will begin bidding for 1.4GW solar projects, and all successful bidders will receive a 25-year long-term power purchase agreement. International financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide financing support.

    The government also plans to plan 1-20MW solar parks for the power industry and install smaller off-grid power generation facilities in remote areas (including eco-tourism attractions).

    By the end of 2030, Uzbekistan ’s electricity demand is expected to increase from the current 12.5 GW to 23 GW. Of the additional 10.5 GW of capacity, solar energy is expected to account for 5 GW, and wind power will further increase by 3 GW.
