EPA Chairman Tom Hatton said that the proposed Asian Renewable Energy Center consists of 15GW of onshore wind turbines and solar panels, located about 220 kilometers east of Hedland Port, with a transmission cable corridor to the coast, and The submarine cable leading to the edge of interstate waters has an expected service life of 50 years.

Due to the distance from these important Ramsar wetlands, the EPA believes that any potential impact on migratory birds is manageable. The plan involves the construction of up to 1743 wind turbines, solar panels, ground and underground transmission cables, and 4 submarine power cables covering 662,400 hectares of land and offshore development.

This report will begin a two-week public appeal period, and then the Ministry of Environment will make a final decision on this recommendation.
