Estonian solar power tripled in the first quarter

    In the first quarter of 2020, Estonian renewable buy solar system for home energy generated 601 gigawatt hours (GWh), an increase of about 14% year-on-year, accounting for more than 51% of Estonian electricity production and 24% of total Estonian electricity consumption.

    In the first quarter, wind power generated 294 GWh, accounting for 49% of total renewable energy generation, a year-on-year increase of 23%. Biomass fuel, biogas and waste generate 284 GWh, accounting for 47% of total renewable energy generation, up 3% year-on-year. The hydropower generation capacity is 11 GWh. The number of solar panels affected by the subsidy policy continued to grow. In the first quarter, solar power generation was 11.5 GWh, which tripled year-on-year.
