The US government on Monday approved the largest solar installation project in US history, which is support for the solar projects of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A.US, BRK.B.US) subsidiaries. The company will build a 690 MW off grid solar kit system power plant in northern Las Vegas.
When the project is completed, utility manufacturer NV Energy expects the $ 1 billion Gemini solar project to become the eighth largest solar power generation facility in the world. The plant covers an area of approximately 7,100 acres and can provide sufficient power for 260,000 households in the area.
The developer plans to build the project in two phases in about 28 months. The first part will be put into use in early 2021, and the final facility will be completed as early as 2022.
