Uzbekistan will vigorously promote renewable energy in the next 10 years
Uzbekistan released the country's power development strategy for 2020-2030. The main contents include: modernization and transformation of existing off grid solar kit system price power plants; construction of new power generation projects using energy-saving power generation technology; improvement of power metering system; diversification of fuel and development of renewable energy, especially solar energy.

It is reported that Uzbekistan released the strategy, which aims to set mid- and long-term goals for the country's power industry development from 2020 to 2030. The strategic plan provides electricity at competitive prices and ensures balanced development, absorbing international best practices and keeping up with the global power industry development trends.
According to the strategy, from 2020 to 2030, Uzbekistan will achieve an increase in installed power generation capacity and available power generation from 12.9GW to 29.3GW. Of the new capacity, solar power plants will account for 5 GW, and wind farms will account for 3 GW. By 2030, the realization of renewable energy will account for more than a quarter of the country's capacity. At the same time, from 2020 to 2030, Uzbekistan ’s power generation will increase from 63.6 billion kWh to 120.8 kWh; natural gas consumption will decrease from 16.5 billion cubic meters to 12.1 billion cubic meters. By 2030, the country ’s power transmission losses will be reduced to 2.35% and distribution losses to 6.5%.

Uzbekistan ’s Ministry of Energy stated that the strategy will focus on the development of renewable energy, which will improve environmental conditions, increase efficiency, and stimulate local industry, infrastructure and create more jobs.
