Renewable energy becomes the main source of EU electricity supply

    The research report pointed out that in the first half of this year, renewable energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy, water conservancy and bio-energy accounted for 40% of the electricity supply of the 27 EU member states, while fossil fuels accounted for 34%.

    According to the report, from January to June, renewable energy power generation in the 27 EU member states increased by 11%. It was also pointed out that this was mainly due to the use of new wind and solar power generation devices and the mild and windy favorable climatic conditions at the beginning of this year.

    The think tank said that wind energy and solar energy alone have created a historical record of 21% of the total power generation in Europe, and have a higher penetration rate in some countries, such as Denmark (64%), Ireland (49%) and Germany (42%).
