Thailand's household solar PV payback period is expected to be reduced by 1 year
At present, the Ministry of Energy of Thailand is considering more incentives to promote private 5kw home solar panel kits system price solar energy plans, encouraging people to install solar panels or solar roofs on their roofs and participate in the production of clean energy electricity for their own use. The initial guideline is to increase the proportion of electricity purchases, and the price is about 2.00-2.20 baht per kilowatt-hour.

The solar roof plan, which was first launched in 2019, purchased excess electricity at a price of 1.68 baht per kWh for a period of 10 years to encourage households to invest in the installation of solar roofs, but so far most households have not installed solar roofs because of the high cost.

The results of the program after the end of the application at the end of last year showed that the number of applicants and the number of qualified people were not large, and the total power was about 3 megawatts (MW), while the government’s private solar energy program targeted 100 megawatts (MW). Therefore, in this year’s plan, the government put forward a policy of increasing the proportion of electricity purchased. This policy should increase the attractiveness to a certain extent because its price is higher than the production cost of solar rooftop power, which is about 1.85 baht per unit. The payback period is It is expected to be shortened by about one year, and it is expected to create more business opportunities for the solar roof business in the future.
