Case Study: 200kW Solar Power System Project for a Rice Mill in a Remote Area of
Project Overview
This is a rice mill located in a remote area of Abuja, Nigeria. The local municipal power supply is unstable, and electricity tariffs have increased multiple times this year. Due to the unreliable grid power, the customer can only operate for 10 hours a day, failing to meet production targets. Meanwhile, the prohibitive Class A electricity tariff is unaffordable, while other tariff classes cannot satisfy production needs. To break free from unstable grid power, rising electricity prices, and the high costs associated with diesel generators, the customer specifically collaborated with MARS SOLAR to customize a 200kW photovoltaic (PV) energy storage system.
Leveraging 17 years of professional experience in solar system supply, we tailored a stable, reliable, and long-term economically viable energy solution for the customer.

Customer's Challenges
- Unstable municipal grid power with frequent blackouts, resulting in only 10 hours of operational time per day.
- Unaffordable Class A electricity tariff, while other tariff classes fail to meet production requirements.
- Dependence on diesel generators, leading to high fuel and maintenance costs, with monthly diesel consumption ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 liters.

Solution
Delivered a 200kW customized PV energy storage system, precisely addressing the factory's needs for stable production and freedom from high electricity prices.
- Adopted LONGi high-efficiency PV modules, generating an additional 600 kWh of electricity per month.
- Selected Fuji Brand IGBT module inverter system to reduce voltage fluctuations, extend equipment lifespan, and ensure stable machine power output.
- Equipped with a high-efficiency intelligent BMS (Battery Management System) lithium-ion battery storage, enhancing cell operational stability, reducing local heat generation, and prolonging battery cell life.
- Utilized an industrial-grade system design with engineering-grade brackets, featuring robust materials to lower construction difficulty and costs. Equipped with an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) to achieve 24/7 uninterrupted power supply without manual switching.

Achievements and Value
- 24/7 stable voltage supply, ensuring sufficient production time.
- Complete elimination of diesel generation costs, significantly reducing the customer's monthly energy expenditure of 8,000 to 12,000 liters of diesel.
- Thanks to stable and efficient power generation, the investment payback period is only 2 years.
- A 25-year long service life provides over 20 years of low-cost, stable electricity.

During actual operation, the person in charge of the rice mill expressed recognition for the outstanding power generation capacity and operational stability of MARS' 200kW customized system under long-term high-load conditions. They noted that the project's performance has strengthened confidence in subsequent production activities. Through the continuous operation of this real-world project, product performance has been field-proven, providing stable support for the application of clean energy in the region.
