Ukrainian renewable energy prices will be significantly reduced

     The reform bill No. 3658 of the newly registered renewable energy of the Ukrainian Parliament stipulates that after the auction of renewable energy power generation is auctioned, the unit price of power generation shall not exceed 9 euro cents per kilowatt hour before the end of 2024, and shall not exceed 8 euro cents per kilowatt hour from 2025. .     The bill retains the government to determine the amount of subsidies, while authorizing the government to determine the progress of subsidies for the next year.  According to the new bill, all renewable energy power plants with a capacity of more than 5 MW must participate in the bidding. In addition, the bill also stipulates to expand the types of quotas, in addition to the annual allocation, there must be supplementary quotas.

    At the same time, the new bill also authorizes the government to clearly develop key areas for renewable energy, because 60% of the installed capacity is currently concentrated in the five southern states. These regions have too much power surplus, which makes it difficult to connect the newly installed power plants to the grid.

    According to previous reports, the acting minister of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy stated at a news conference on June 12 that the bidding for renewable energy power plants will be implemented from next year. The first step will be to determine the power generation quota for each type of power station. The quota determination mechanism will be stipulated in the reform bill formed on the basis of a memorandum signed with a series of investors.
