The Pavagada Solar Project in Tumakuru District, Karnataka, India, is currently fully operational. The project was developed by Karnataka solar system cost in india Project Development Co., Ltd. (KSPDCL), which is the Indian Solar Corporation (SECI) and Kana Takbang Renewable Energy (KREDL) joint venture.

The project plans to build a solar park with a capacity of 2,000 MW, and later increase the capacity by 50 MW. KSPDCL has stated that it expects that all 2,050 MW facilities in Pavagada will be commissioned in December 2019. Of the total capacity of 2,050 MW, the 600 MW project of the National Thermal Power Company (NTPC) has been applied, SECI is responsible for 200 MW, and KREDL implements 1,250 MW.
The Pavagada project was proposed in February 2015 and development started in January 2016. The site is divided into 8 areas of 250 MW each, with dedicated high-voltage power lines, a concentration station and an evacuation concentration station. It is reported that the cost of the project has been reduced because all land in the project is leased.

Karnataka is India's largest solar state. Currently, about 7.1 GW of large-scale solar projects are in operation, and about 1 GW of projects are under development. Karnataka states that renewable energy accounts for 62% of its power structure, followed by thermal and nuclear power, with 35% and 2.5%, respectively. Among renewable energy sources, solar energy accounts for 22% of the total installed capacity of renewable energy sources.
