Nigeria to become West Africa's renewable energy hub

     Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim, Chairman of Nigeria Green Investment Company Nigus, stated that Nigeria plans to become an off grid solar system meaning renewable energy development center in less developed regions of West Africa.

    Nigus Investments, through a partnership with German renewable energy solution provider LTI ReEnergy, and the Federal Government with the support of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), reached a plan to build five US $ 600 million in northeast Nigeria 10 MW solar power plant, and is committed to building a renewable energy center in the Sevore Export Processing Zone in Adamawa State.

    According to World Bank estimates, Nigeria will need 20 million kilowatts of electricity to support the economic development of 170 million people, but currently, Nigeria's power generation capacity is only 4.5 million kilowatts.
