Multiple renewable energy projects in Vietnam need to be fully explored

    Multiple renewable solar system off grid energy projects in Vietnam have not been fully tapped. Minister of Vietnam ’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Chen Junying, was interviewed by media reporters on this issue.

    Chen Junying said that a working delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade recently went to Kunsong, Jialai, and Guangzhi to conduct field inspections on the potential and advantages of local renewable energy development. Chen Junying emphasized that the development potential of renewable energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaic power generation in central and western Vietnam is huge. Among them, Guangzhi, Jialai and other provinces have the advantage of wind power generation; while the photovoltaic power generation potential of Guangzhi Province and Xiyuan area needs to be tapped.

    Chen Junying revealed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade reached a preliminary consensus on the development strategy of wind power and photovoltaic power generation with relevant localities. The delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade will travel to Biao Liao, Soc Trang, Jin Lu, Ben Than, Long An and other provinces to evaluate and further improve the development strategy of local wind power and renewable energy power generation, and then to effectively develop wind power, photovoltaics and even renewable energy in Vietnam. The renewable energy development strategy laid the legal foundation.

    Regarding the price of renewable energy, Chen Junying said that with the rapid development of the industrial revolution, the cost of wind power and photovoltaic power generation has fallen rapidly. Therefore, the FIT is no longer in line with the new situation and should be adjusted further. The government prime minister has instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work with consulting units to study and propose pricing mechanism designs and policy recommendations to meet power development requirements.
