The UK is expected to add 1GW of new solar photovoltaic capacity in 2021
According to data from the British Solar Energy Association, the British solar industry added 175 MW of Kits Solares solar power generation capacity in the first quarter, increasing the country’s cumulative photovoltaic installed capacity (PV) to more than 14,000 MW.

According to the association’s report, ground solar accounted for 70% of the quarterly increase. However, driven by the subsidy policy, the rooftop market was booming, with rooftop solar growing 14% year-on-year.
In the 12 months to the end of March, the UK has added 660 MW of grid-connected solar power generation capacity. According to data from the British Solar Energy Association, it is estimated that in 2021, the country's new installations may reach 1,000 megawatts, because of the growth in the three main markets, namely residential, commercial rooftop and ground installation markets.
"In addition, the pipeline in each market segment continues to grow strongly, especially for large-scale solar power plants. 2021 will still be an important year for the development of the UK solar industry," said Finlay Colville, research director at Solar Media.

British solar power stations have now covered more than 3 million households. Even without state subsidies, solar project development is still climbing. According to statistics, unsubsidized solar energy accounts for 7.3% of the total solar power generation in the UK, with a cumulative capacity of more than 1 GW.
